Wide spaced bars will shell out anything. One may have to add channel bars in the concave , however over the three channels most run. Worn concaves and unlevel cyls. are the culprits many times. One should turn cyl bars when they start to round on the leading edge. Ususally the bars won't wear on the very outside ribs. Compare these to the bar about 6" in. When the leading edge is half that of the new trailing edge, it is time for reversal. The general rule of thumb is one channel on the door, skip one place, then another, skip, and add a third. Add a fourth in position 2 or first on the back door. Only on clovers or such crops have we had to run 5 bars. If cracking is encountered switch the door concave to a half round. Also remember speed cracks more than clearance.. set speed up til she cracks then back off for max capacity at normal clearance setting.
