Combines Cylinder Dive Belt Running Very Hot

Your problem is with the front (driven) pulley. The sliding surface on this unit has become worn, and now the two halves wallow around creating massive amounts of heat. (I used to carry a water supply, combine about 1_2 a mile, and toss some water on this pulley, and it would be boiling hot.) You might get some more life out of it by pulling the sheaves apart and packing the sliding area full of high-temp anti seize compound, or high temperature grease. Notice that there is a seal and grease zerk to keep this area lubed. Get a machine shop to re-work the sliding surfaces, or get a replacement unit. The 760 was (and still is) one of the better small grain machines for sample quality.

How do you know your traveling 5 mphIJ Only the later 760's had speedo's, and they were in kph.

The 4 or 5 channel tach can be set up to read in miles per hour as well as kilometers - see service manual or training manual. As far as the temperature of the pulleys, this is quite normal as alot of belt twisting and untwisting goes on during operation. This tends to generate alot of heat. As long as the rear beater pulley nut is bottomed and you notice no slipping or range issues, carry on. lots of capacity in this machine especially with V8 engine.
