We recently had a damaged 25' 1020 that was sold by the insurance company to Combine World in Saskatchewan. When a machine is considered "totaled" by the insurance company, salvage yards get to bid on it.

Some of them are owned by the insurance company, after the settlement, which in turn sells them to salvage yards.Would guess that in many cases, an individual has a slim chance to buy these machines because of liability concerns and the insurance companies must keep their sales channels open..Maybe the salvage yards can just afford to pay more to part them out then an individual can and fix one up but it seems that every one around here goes for scrap or parts.
