In 1975 my father bought a new F diesel with a 15ft floating cutterbar grain head and a 4 30 corn head for about $30,000 if my memory is correct.

i purchased a 81 f2 with 110 hrs in 82 for 40,000$this combine was a hydro and had a 18ft. header

That seems high. In 1985 we bought a new leftover M3 for around $45,000 with a 15' 315 head.

You have to remember that in 75 the farm economy was booming and in 85 it was bust.
