How do Tyler. Well, another successful year I think. I'll tell you more when I go through end of the year books....*grin*. Still have both those massey's. The 860 and the 750 are both are open for trade of greenbacks.....not deere either....benjamins! Pop is on the search for a 1688. I'd love to see him get a 21 but they are still to proud of those machines and he thinks he can live with the creature comforts of a 16 series cab just fine for the price difference. The 860's murphy switch decided to act up this fall for harvest but other than that she was smooth sailing to say the least. Talk about a site......Father puts the 20 foot plat off of the 750 on the 860 for milo harvest so he don't have to drop the header and can go through gates easier and that sucker just fly's through the field even in 101 bushel milo. Kinda pretty site to see. Smokes my 9600 doing that...lOl. I didn't have any problems with the 9600 so to speak this fall either. Only thing I did find is the end bearing for the return auger that drops the return matter above the cylinder is out and has wallered one heck of a hole in the end plate. I wondered what that noise was I heard when running empty and just figured it was those darn plastic paddles on the new return auger chain I put on last year smacking the tinwork and making noise. (shrug)....live and learn. I got one project at least before wheat harvest in the spring now. Harvest went well....Everyone got out with all thier fingers and toes and not one word was uttered to another family member that was derogatory this year.....I was impressed!...heh heh. Now this don't mean anything about a few co-op members.....First part of harvest each year I put a burr under thier tails to speed them up through the harvest. Tempers simmer and hard feelings are forgotten by the end because everyone's so tired. It's a good step I think.....Really put's some spring in that lazy help they have....lOl.......At any rate, the combines are cleaned, put away, and minimal damage done and minimal repairs are warranted in may when we drag them back out. Yesterday, it was just colder than All get out. last nite the temps dropped down to 18 F and we were supposed to get snow. Well, no snow but alot of wind and hard wind it was. Now, today, the sun' shining and it's half way decent. I myself am in the shop trying to rebuild a valve stack for an F-11 farmhand with all new o-rings...it leaked out more than it was worth I swear. After that the pete goes into the shop and I have to replace the turbo, pull the injectors and get them tested to see which one is missing, set the over head..set the jake brake....pull a oil pressure test on certain rpm's for the jake (did you know that jakes work off of oil pressureIJ..I didn't till I got my 68 dollar book from Kitty cat the other day) and them I'm back on the road trucking for the winter. All other projects are going to have to wait till spring when it warms up. My heat source in the shop is called a G.E. and only has 100 watt's of output and you cant get it very far from you.....*grin*....lOl......It does work better for enhancing sight in the dark...ha ha. As for new fun and exciting.....Her name is Mary but that is another post for another day. You take good care, I'll catch you again. Deerebines

Rich... Sad to hear of your Masseys being for sale, but if its like it is with us back here, its one of those "Its just time" things. lOl. Updating to a 1688IJ Ive never been around too many Axial Flows in my time, and Id like to learn some more about them. Ive been following the Case IH combine forum alot and reading the posts, but havent asked many questions. While Im here I might as well tell a bit about our season. I think we were pretty lucky for the most part. Some of the hired help bent the big hydraulic cylender that swings the unloading auger out on the 8460. Never did find out how he did it, only thing I can figure is he caught it on the tail end of the trailer when pulling in to unload. The old 750 did her job pretty good. For about 6 months the right front tire was looking about like it was ready to have kittens on the inside, and we knew it too. But we kept on running it hoping it would hold together, but alas..... about 2 weeks short of the end of harvest, she blew out. So we put a new drive tire on it. looks better now too.... Are your combines red cabs or grey cabsIJ Our 750 is a Red cab. Used to run two 750's at one time, but before I started work at the farm, Something went bad on the other one and it saw the scrapyard. Then the 8460 came in. Quite a step up from the 750, its really a horse of a machine. Ive been behind the wheel of it a few times and its a pleasure to drive. The boss found out one night the painful way one night after we were done with harvest, that he had a kidney stone. That really put a damper to things and we have been running our heads off wile he tries to rest. He is slowly improving and I hope he continues. After running the Field Queens all summer and fall, the one we have had the longest has lost field gear (hydro). I beleive there is a tooth off the gear, when you go so far it starts knocking and shaking the machine. It is ok in low gear and road gear. So that looks like a winter project. We also have a JD 4520 that has the tranny out of it. Drilling rye one day with a 750 drill and it locked up. Its really a beast of the tractor, kind of sad seeing it setting in the shop corner waiting to be split in two for the tranny work. Talk about hurt pride, lol. The old International Transtars held up pretty good for all the truckin we did. One night the boss was coming up through town empty and an old lady in a Phord pickup pulled out in front of him..... CRASH. Didnt bust up the old Transtar too bad, except for a headlight panel and the bumper, but it busted the HE!! out of that Phord. Other than that I think everything went OK. Didnt have too much to worry about. Too bad we didnt have a more moist growing season or we could have had a good crop. We made out ok, but it wasnt the greatest. Only had one fallout, and with a buddy of mine over some worthless issues. Man it doesnt take much anger to take it out on someone. learned some important things this year. MaryIJIJIJ Does Rich have a lady in his lifeIJ Well I wish you the best with her. Have to tell me about it someday. Im currently fed up with the entire female race because of one certain individual, but I hope that changes soon. You said about the Petes needin work done. What for Cat is that, is that the 3406B, or E or is it a different modelIJ The grandfather_father have a fleet of four Pete 357 Tri-axles and haul stone for a local contractor. There is a 5th one on the way after the first of the year.... The new one will have the new C series Cat. I think 15 or 16. Well you take care. Hope I didnt talk your ear off. Not much going on around here tonight. Take it easy, and Ill try to keep in touch with ya over the winter. Catch ya later. Tyler
