Combines Deere and Case vs Gleaner Rotor loss

From what I have seen it is mainly the operator knowing how to set up and run the machine. Each has a specific crop that it may be able to outperform the competition in, but for the most part they all do a good job if they are set up correctly.

I have run Gleaners, John Deeres, Massey Fergusons, Case conventionals(960) IH conventionals, CaseIH rotaries, and been around Cat(lexion),and NH twin rotor machines. There is not a one of them that can not and will not do a good job is if properly set and operated. In the hands of a poor operator there again is not a one of them worth, well anyhow you get the drift. Put a good operator on the seat and even the worst one of the lot will do a good job.

One of the many things that I admire about the contributors to this Gleaner site is the fairness and reasonableness that is accorded other makes of combines when comparing them to Gleaners and to one another. No ranting and raving and rarely a denigrating comment on the other colours. Take a bow my friends! Cheers.

Funny, I have walked my neighbors fields asking myself the same questions. Here is what I have observed. JD 9560 head did the best job cutting but left those green strips behind machine as much as or more anyone. Did not find much loss at head compared to everyone else. R65 mostly just shatter loss from grain head....no telltale green out back. Case 1688 same way. My conventional was the same.....I am losing too much in a dry bean year from the head. I do not run as fast as the newer machines, but I stop machine loaded a lot to see where grain settings are. Bottom line most of it is operator...the JD guy could slow down or adjust and have a real good job done. The rest would like a head that gets more beans or modified to do a better job. I saw too many of my beans slobber off the head as I was harvesting....painful.

I'll have a drink to that! I am one of those type that bash; mostly the green ones. I hate to but sometimes i can't resist it. Its like the green freaks have little pecker syndrom and can't cure it. I have nothing what so ever to bash gleaner, don't have one anymore due to the fact that parts are close to an hour away.
