To quote our jd dealer "Drapers are a fad, and wont last long." Anyone heard that beforeIJ That is why we went 8 hrs away to buy our 3 MacDon Drapers. If you cann't imagine why, then you have never ran one.

Deere will probably come with an improved draper head, but not an alternative to the their hydraflex auger heads. Draper heads won't replace the auger flex head as the primary header for cutting soybeans.

Yeah, and "Deere will never come with a rotor because they don't work in all conditions." Just hide in the bushes and wait, there will be a green flex-draper and it will be as soon as MacDon puts enough dent in sales. I expect it will be sooner rather than later.

Hop-a-long, I've got news for your dealer. Deere manufactured a draper back in the 1970's and the '80's for rice combines. In fact, Deere once offered more header options than any other combine company, period. Drapers are NOT a fad! There is no way to make an auger head wider than 30' or so, and stay within the constraints of normal header dimensions. The draper simply allows for more flex. Historically, most combines began their infancy with draper heads. I hardly think something that has been around for 170 years is a "fad."

Deere has made a 36ft auger head before. But it was ridged. 936 I think the number was, but don't hold me to that. Have seen a few "older" 9600 models running around with them.

MacdonIJ I would presume to say HoneyBee will shortly be in the mix. That's who I would put my money on. Thanks.

Thats why we went accross the state to buy our MacDons. Don't get very good looks when we mention them in there either. I saw Cats 40' auger head setting on our Cat Dealer lot this fall.

Interesting. I never knew they could make such such a thing, but again, technology is improving. Maybe the augers are built to flex some, too. Still, Deere needs to get back into making draper heads.
