Combines Deutz 413 engine overheating

Finally did what I should have done two days ago - put a new ground wire to gauge. Now it seems to work correctly. I still don't know what's wrong with the original ground wire. The ground wires for all the instruments and backlighting on the dash are daisy-chained together and everything but the temp gauge worked properly... I had run a jumper ground wire to an adjacent gauge two days ago, but this time I went right to the frame. This tractor is so simple it wouldn't even need an electrical system, yet they felt compelled to put about five miles of wire under that dash! Other details: Fan is direct_continuous drive. No thermostat in oil cooler. Oil cooler was clean. Took some temps with the infrared gun with the tractor under heavy load: midpoint (halfway between cylinder head and top deck of block) of cylinder lH side of engine between pushrods= 250oF each. Midpoint cylinders on RH side= 175-210oF. Cylinder head where temp sensor located= 175-190oF. Exhaust manifold= 850oF. Oil filter=130oF. Thank you for all the suggestions. Had ice on the puddles (28o) this morning and it's supposed to be five degrees colder tomorrow. Glad I have held off on planting

Been there, done that, mine was on a 6265. Good solid little tractors, though.
