clutch hubs have worn into the clutch shaft. New clutch hubs are bronzed to avoid 'clamping the floater plate'. Hmmm lets try that again. The old clutch had worn a groove in the clutch shaft. The new linings are now thicker and the hub won't slide so therefore it is still rubbing and friction is trying to drive the shaft. Had one do this to us a few years back.

Do you mean the hubs on the 2 clutch discs are sticking on the trans input shaftIJ Do I have to tear the tranny apart to replace this shaftIJ The new discs seemed to slide fine on the shaft , I slid them on before I put the clutch on. Why did the old clutch do the same thingIJ Thanks for your help.

you don't wan't to know the answer..... different mfg. of trans, clutch, and engine, lack of high hour testing. Sign of the time... Anyway inspect the input shaft - a high speed drimmel can be used to deburr or take away the grove in the shaft. The hubs on the new clutches are designed to be softer than the shaft. Band aid...... but it works... or has for 1500+ hours.
