Deutz came in to the picture in 85' I believe and exited in 93'. The green stipe is the same as the black except for decals. Now the difference between a 82 1_2' early F-2 and F-3 are night and day. First off is the electic over hydraulic controls on the 3 would never go back to levers! Hydros were available on both models and corn heads are the same. The F-3 has no flaw in it that I could find in the 16 yrs I have owned one. F-3 were made from 83'-87' and half of 82' if you count the 2's. The 3's in my opinion will out cut the 2's do to the creature comforts alone. You would be surprised what that little machine will do next to a larger combine of any color, I have personaly ran a number of IH's,NH's,and Deere out of the field in less than ideal conditions! Oh I just thought of a flaw with the F-3 and it is a BIG ONE, they quit making them argh! I would buy a new one tommorow if they would start production again! Oh well as they say maybe hell will freeze tonight! just my 1 cent since I've been told I don't have em' all!

Yeah, what makes the little Gleaners so productiveIJ My K2 will chase a Deere 3300 out of the field, and supposedly they are the same size machine. I bet I could give my neighbor's 4400 a run for its money in soybeans if I had 13' instead of 10' head.

The Gleaner or Deutz Allis f3 is by far one of the best 4 row machines ever built. One of the few 4 row hydro machines available during its time and the electric header height control is very nice.I have an 1983 f3 with only 1100hrs and it is very nice. The only fault I have with it is that it does like fuel but within reason. I am not sure about the green stripe head vs the black head. I have the green 1987 4rn. I was told the snouts are longer but I am not sure. If you want a good late model 4 row machine give the f3 a try.

Friend has an F3 with the Deutz-Allis decals and 15 flex, it has orange wheels. I figured with the decals and orange wheels it must have been in dealer or factory inventory during the merger, I see the latest ones had silver wheels. I hate what that green color did to A-C but at least it still exists in some form.

I appreciate all the info. Curious about fuel consumption. Was the F3 only a diesel modelIJ Electronics not a problem on theseIJ They sound like nice machines, I'd really like to know what they cost new out of curiosity.
