Combines Diesel fuel consumption

You are lucky with your diesel fuel prices! In Oz we are currently paying the equivalent of US.$3.33 per US Gal. or AUD. $1.13_ lt. and there ain't no farm programs for any of our crops to soften the pain. The going world commodity prices is all we get. Cheers.

Here's a number. I picked corn with a twelve row in front of a green 2000 model 9650 through 205bu corn and weeds over 2100 acres. The fuel consumption was 1 gallon per acre. The 1050 grain cart used about half as much pulled by an 8320JD. You guys should notice differences for TIER II engines. They usually use more fuel.

Always figured my F2 4 cyl.used a bit less than 1 gallon of diesel per acre on firm ground in corn--ona crop of 100 to 120 bu_ac. Can't sit in it long enough to burn a full tank. Used more this year, sinde a weak raddle and a heavy crop kept my speed down. Ben.

I am not familiar with the 433 engine but I can comment on fuel consumption of my 15-year-old R60. Fuel use for 98 to 03 in corn that averaged 183-209 bushels (dry basis) was 1.2 to 1.6 gal_acre.

Using a 1990 R50 with 6 cyl Deutze last year used about a gallon_acre. This year with immature corn about 1.1-1.2 gallon per acre. I heard the Masseys with the perkins motor used .8 gal_acre. The new Massey with the 505 cu.in. Cummins is over a gallon.acre. One of the AGCO changes that's a step in the wrong direction. The Perkins has a better torque curve for combines than the Cummins too.
