The 970 is the rigid model of the 972 flex platform with only height control sensors. The 971 is the rigid model of the 973 flex platform and has sensors for both height and tilt control for the "terrain tracer" available on the TR86_TR96 or newer combines. I don't think you'd like the 970 for beans unless you've got flat fields and a narrow head. I have seen a few 972 flex platforms sell at auctions that had "970" nameplates on the shields but the serial number nameplate showed 973. When in doubt, pick it up off the ground and see if you can flex the platform and move the wobble box up and down. The wobble box on the 972 is supported on a spring and chain(or slotted strap) to provide the flex. On the 970 its bolted solid to the frame.
