Mad Contractor you don't happen to be the same one as the FWI discussion groupIJIJ The speciality rotor has been fitted to all the UK axial flows from around 1989ish, the reason they were switched here in the UK were primarily for the reduced power they require when operating in damp crops.

Yes, the very same. I am everywhere I am thinking about buying a couple of Axial Flow combines for a contract of mine (mainly due to the fact that the early ones are so cheap second hand),but not knowing much about them I wanted to find out as much as possible. Any info is gratefully received. MC

We've been running a 1460 Axial Flow since 1996 in the UK, a couple of years ago we fitted the newer speciality rotor to it so we have a good idea of the difference between the two. If you want to know more about running them you could always e-mail me and Ill give you my phone number and Ill fill you in with the details. The primary reason we purchased the Axial Flow initially was the price but after running one I wouldnt really want to go back to a conventional again. Derekjohnston@precise-solutions.co.uk

The Specialy Rotor has smaller bars and augers the crop from front to rear. The standard rotor has a few straight bars and does a better job of threshing. You will probably like the specialty better in the UK.
