Combines Different Style Rock Trap Beater

I have run the rock trap beater from precision farm parts for two harvests now. I am really happy w_ the results and was worth the investment. Install the beater and also modify the impellers on the front of the rotor like they suggest and you will run w_ any afx rotor.

Ozzy, What crops are you runningIJ My intrest in this beater would be heavy, wet barley. Also what rotor mods are they doing and what could one expect to spend for this beater. Thanks

We run peas, durum_hrs, barley, canola, flax, and soybeans. The factory rock trap beater is the biggest bottleneck on the axial flow combines. This newer style of beater is more aggressive by far. What they recommend on the rotor is to shorten up the impellers on the very front of the cone. What I noticed about this is it does not glob in tough conditions. That is similiar to what the afx will gain you in tough conditions. I know we paid somewhere around the $650 mark for the beater, but I assume they are way more $ w_ the iron prices and all.

I have a different rock trap beater that I've made, it's called 'THE RAZOR' TM (patent pending). I've had the first 'RAZOR' in a combine for 4 years. last fall I put several 'RAZORS' in other combines. I've been a combine mechanic for 12 years and definitely know the biggest bottle-neck is the rock trap. This design offers great rock protection and does NOT restrict crop flow to the rotor (i.e. the tougher the crop the better the results).
