Combines Dirt in cyclinder

St John welding will sell you an enclosed cylinder that should fix the problem.

Some of my neighbors let the separator run constantly so dirt wouldnt accumulate on the backside of the bottom cylinder bar. I would get out of the cab and pull on the chopper belt a few times which rotates the cylinder enough to redistribute dirt. Dont shut down for the day without doing the above procedure.

I had that problem when I used to raise milo. I would engage the separator clutch for a second or two to start the cylinder rolling and then disengage the clutch. Enough dirt would fall out or be redistributed to balance the cylinder again. Usually one or maybe two short starts would solve the vibration. Never replaced a cylinder bearing or mount with this method.

lightly rubbing seperater clutch to give a slow rolling start always seemed to do it on the A2.You gotta roll it over slow enough to let the crap fall from rising bars.

DUMB question, I know, but how do you get dirt in the cyl threshing wheatIJ We used to have problems in soybeans until operators made sure to run the separator until the tailings stopped. Cylinder vibration can also be mistaken for bin loader auger vibration. Especially if there is a vibration until the bin is 1_4 to half full then I would suspect other vibration.

I think a better word is dust. Some conditions and higher RPMs are worse. It don't take long at all for the piles to fall and stick to bottom bars. Sitting over period of time this way will surely require loosing dirt or dust manually. You're surely right about bin fill auger also. It can send sickening vibration into cab. It should run smooth and quite in the bin. We have balanced many bin fill augers and Gleaner started balancing a few years back.

NDDan, How in the heck do you balance a bin fill augerIJ Thanks

Easy. Just slide a couple bearings onto auger and set bearings up so you can turn auger. The heavy side of auger will roll down. Now just tack weld a weight onto non flow side of flighting above the shaft. I suppose you could drill hole and assemble a stack of washers instead of welding. I install the weights about half way threw the auger. Good luck

if one wants a really smoooooth machine, balance all the augers. Header auger is super important on all heads over 20'

Thanks I think you may be right with it being the bin auger. Cleaned the cyclinder yesterday morning and have had little trouble since.
