Combines Dirty sample AGAIN

QuestionIJ Do you have a small seed kit in the bottom sieve fan openingIJ this kit with the inch or so holes in it to reduce the air flow but not pressure. Now normally you can just turn the air restricter up out of the the air duct air stream to go and do normal type of crops (Wheat, corn, beans, etc) BUT! we have found out that if you don't take the air restricter out completely you will otherwise always have fines in the sample. Check it out and see if you have the air restricter still in but folded up out the air stream,. remove it completely to see if that helps Rolf

I agree with Rolf, you must have some sort of air restriction, especially if you are getting leaves and stalk in the bin. Or you may be sucking that stuff in from the ground, check to see if a screen is missing or has moved. Cob in the bin can be caused by a number of things; soft cob, concave set too tight breaking up cob, grate too tight, reverse bars or tips of the ear that did not polinate breaking off. Also the chaffer mod really helps if you have plenty of air. I would look into the air problem first. Hope this helps, Pete Hinrihsen

Several years ago I came across a service update for certain 52's and some 62's that involved redrilling the holes for the air choke to distribute more air to the front of the shoe. Agco combine service told me that the original design was excellent for wheat but weak on corn_beans. All that is involved is purchasing a template, drilling a few holes and riveting the pieces in position. Should take about two hours. Only cost is template and new rivets. Can't remember where I put bulletin but Agco combine service should be able to help.

First of all, with all due respect, lets attact the problem, not the brand. If you got your red, green, pink, or purple one you might just get some rare condiiton in it that you have in the 62. In our experience it has been easier to clean beans and corn over wheat. Now. Assuming you have bottom and front screens in place; and if you are getting leaves and stalk in your grain tank you have a hole under the thresher stone door and these stalks and leaves are leaking out and being dropped on top of the fan and being blown under the seive and thus into the tank. This is simple to fix. We have found this several times and it results from a plug above the dist augers and they push out the panel in between the front auger and the bin. Unless the air choke rod is on backwards there is no way you can get leaves in the tank other than sucking them from the ground or the leak posted above or from the access panel on the rear throat floor OR if your rear feed floor has 'bowed' and thus not sealing where the front and rear meet. Think about this crop enters via throat, goes through cylinder, only what gets through the cage and grate gan get into the tank. But first it must go through the chaffer and then the seive and all the time survive the 5-25 mph air blast that is trying to blow it out the rear. This would be a tough journey for a leaf huhIJ You gotta have a leak or a tear or worn through spot (.)

Ditto for me with the same problems. You are not the only one.

Corn and beans are easier to clean than wheat in my experience. There's just more MOG with wheat.

If all problems are related to same cause it must be leak into fan area. leaves almost have to be coming from there. If conditions are such that leaves are getting sucked into fan area you would need to plug up the hole. When the leaves are getting in they are surely pluging under chaffer as well. I have heard of cutting rear louver from chaffer to let these leaves go threw. If the pieces of cob and stalk are to small to screen out you need to quit making them. You have tried conventional methods and they are not working so you need to measure them helicals and take close look at bars. Black iron helicals measure 1_2" when new and cylinder bars shouldn't be worn past the crown. Have you done any stage of hyperizingIJ Is third helical extended across feeder or better yet any steep pitch installed on thresher side to prevent double pass over concaveIJ Any reverse bars installed and are bars extended to dischargeIJ Do you have high wide seperator grate or wires removed from low narrow grate or every other wire raised up flushIJ Any cylinder bars removed from seperator side or rotor sweeps installedIJ There was a letter at one time on repositioning splitter at bottom rear of fan for more air to the long shoes but doubt you'll need to do that. Newer machines have the holes to relocate splitter. I'm sure no one has needed to relocate splitter if they have did what they needed to to prevent the small pieces of MOG on shoe. I'm sure you can make an animal out of that thing if you wish. Just follow the tips you find at this site and you'll be on your way. Best of luck with your plans. Take care

The corn I pick with an R60 usually grades No 1. If you cant do the same with a newer combine, I would have to conclude you are doing something wrong or your machine has some serious maintenance issues. let me know if you want to unload your R62. I am due for an update.

Which chaffer are you running,I have a square tooth and the sample isn't as clean as the round tooth.
