Combines disappointed 9750 owner for wheat

I don't think you are alone. I read a post on another chat site that a man had traded 2) 2388's in on 2)9750STS ran them in wheat and then traded back to the 2388's. The guy said the combines stunk and the dealer was just as bad. He also said he'd never go back green.

One of my neighbors traded his 2388 for a 9750 to cut rice. He jokingly claims that the JD must be a Ducks Unlimited edition because its gonna feed a lot of ducks this winter. .

Why are you dissappointed in wheatIJ We our happy with our 9750 and we cut some hard to thrash soft white with ours most of the time. We run the grate up closer -run the rotor about 950-1000-wind about 1250 -which I think is 100 more rpms then the book says and keep the header full. It does the best job when you stuff it full.I just keep closing the bottom sieve till I get rid of the white caps and I don't over load the return going up hill. I can cut 250 bu in 10 minutes in 100 bu wheat-trucks just keep up at that speed. what more do you wantIJ

when u run ur combine in wheat do u have the small wire concave in or what pease explain in detail. what process u use for wheat .

This is what I have learned about cutting wheat,HRW_HRS with a 9750_936draper.Rotor 950-1000,keep it full,concave 18-25,(small wire)I have run many acres at 20. Keep the chaffer tighter than the book says,I run it around 12-17.Keeping it tight blasts more air threw the fixed chaffer in front.Fan around 1250 in heavy wheat.If you have white cap problems put two coverplates on the last two sections on the middle concave,thats were the returns dump.One thing I learned is that the setting that deere put in there book is usually wrong.I am very impressed with it.It's a wheat eaten machine.

Hammer we have a 2001 9750 and a 2000 2388 which are run side by side in the same crops. Both are great combines but anyone who says the 2388 is as good or better is only kidding themselves. The 9750 consistantly moves a little faster down the swath, does a better job of chopping AND spreading the residue out the back, has a bigger and more user friendly hopper and much better rotor speed recovery after taking in a wad of something a little wet. Do not give up on this combine prematurely. Our 9750 has 20.8 x 42 duals (great for straight heading and floatation),small wire concaves, fine cut chopper with an experimental tail board and slow speed kit on the fan. Whether the concaves are set at zero or 20 this combine is a swath eater! Changes we are going to try include moving cover plates from first concave to second set to improve white caps in our wheat sample and on our 2388 we are definately going to try that air deflector from Future Farming. Our 2388 has the specialty rotor in it. The only other change we made was to install a Redecop chopper to improve it's spreading capability.

If you're cutting small grains, you can probably improve the performance of the 2388 quite a bit. The Gorden Bars on the front of the rotor (12 I think) with 3 Gorden Cover Plates will let you thresh just about anything. Add the Future Farming air deflector and cap off the hole in the top of the return auger. Finally, take the injection pump off and have the governor springs adjusted to keep the RPM's from dropping off when you load the engine. I can give you the phone n of guy that knows how to do it. I would suspect that if you do these things you'll enjoy running it a lot more. Who knows, you might even keep up with the JDIJ
