We also had the drag chain in our R5. After installing the chopper kit, we removed the drag chain and had no problems with the chute so long as we kept the chopper running. We also modified the chute slightly after removing the drag chain, shafts and sprockets to reduce the amount of stuff falling down on that side of the combine. I think the R60 arrangement is about the same.

Had a R5 that did not have drag chain on it. It was impossible to run in long stem green soybeans. Think you will not be happy without something to carry material out of long chute.
