bob, a chopper would be the best, but I think some things could be done to help problem. First, do you have a standard or specialty rotorIJ If standard put green maize bars on back, and a shredder grate in center position, you may get feedback they don't work but I sold some last fall with good results. Then get new style spreaders or redo yours, with three curved metal bats on each and a small drive pulley to spread further. Specialty rotor could install some notched bars or bars like Mr. Gorden sells would be worth a try. e-mail and other questions I'll try to help.

We use 9 disrupters mounted in the rear keystock grate with a specialty rotor (no rice spike bars). This works great to grind up wheat straw for no-til. In normal conditions, the straw is really destroyed and goes through a planter a lot better than straw from most choppers.

I wouldn't run my combine without them. I really chops up the straw and prevents roping. Also chops up the corn husks so kernals of corn don't ride passed separator grates and out the back of combine.

Because of the way they are made to attach to the grates they only work with the Keystock grates.

Actually, there are supposed to be two versions. The original was for keystock grates only, but you can buy the version for slotted grates from CIH. I think they are made by Estes, not for sure, but only marketed through CIH. I've not seen them, but that's what I've been told. Mike
