I ran them for one season and took them off because are beans are 8% moisture so for them to work you need your rotor running faster.

Wanted to put a chopper in my 1460 and started to round up parts..CIH has kit as you probably know but that is in the $5000 range..thought it could be done for about half that by using salvage gear box, and chopper rotor from 915 and new shielding etc..email me if you want further details because what I wanted to pass along here is that Hi Capacity has come out with a grate assembly that replaces the last separation grate so you know how little it takes to do that..this new grate has chrome long life sickle sections staggered internally to cut up the stalks_straw...used it this past bean harvest and believe I will abandon putting in chopper as results are very close to the same and I can remove for small grain harvest Cost was under$500

In a word 'yes'. I've ran disrupters on my 1460 for two years and it truly cleaned up the mess of green stems.

the disrupters do definately help in green stem bean but my experience with them they tend to overload one side of the sieves IF you have dry bean stems , meaning they are to aggressive in dry stems also they broke the cobs up in corn this is my experience only , but to get them to work properly in my situation I would have to remove them to get the kind of sample I wanted . MY $.02 worth

I was running in the same field as a JD 9500 that was talking about his cylinder growling from green stems. I did not have any noise coming from my rotor with the disrupters.

I build two different styles of the Disrupter. One for Keystock grates and the other for Flat or Slotted grates. The flat grate Disrupter are priced the same and are only available from the factory. The advantage of the keystock over the flat is they are more agressive and have alot more openings. Call me any time at Estes Mfg. Co. 1-800-235-4461

Mr.Chads, I have run the disrupters for 3 years. I have an older short sieved 1680 with specialty rotor and rice bars on the back area over key stock grates. I run about 700rpm in soybeans and keep the concaves farily close. I think it is real close to what a chopper will do. I cut along side a 2188 with chopper and many times we can tell no difference. I would, however, have a chopper on the next machine I buy. The green stemmed beans look better behind a chopper. The big difference you will notice is in corn where the disrupters and rice lugs will help separate the corn from the shucks. Good luck.

Sorry I didn't look back here sooner. I run them(spirals) in beans, wheat and barley. They move tough material through very well. This involved the removal of the rotor and welding in different mounts, then balancing. The company doing it was Hart Mfg. of Grafton, N.D. They rigged it up for running edible beans such as navies, which are known for tough vines. It was done when I bought the 1480 and I didn't know it. (I was new to IH) In the mean time, I had bought the Disrupter set-up and never used it. They're still for sale, at a very negotiable price.
