Combines do the green STS things go

My friend has an STS9650 running on his farm, and (so far) he absolutely loves the machine. Only complaint he's had so far was that it seemed a little underpowered, but it's still their first full year; - time will reveal it's reliability, I guess!

I've heard the same as silverturnedgreen both of the guys I know say they are a littel shy on power. No big problems on either machine. They both said they where told to stay clear of stones as much as they could.

I operated the 9750 for a full season in a variety of crops and conditions. For a new machine it performed very well with little problem. I didn't feel the machine was down on power but I did think that there were some areas which needed improvement eg the sieve area could be increased with split adjustment, concaves etc show early wear etc. I feel if deere are willing to make such improvements it will become a market leader.

The thing that makes me wonder about the sts is that the rotar cage is welded to the frame. So if you twist or bend it in some possable way, you will just have to junk it. It happened to when JD was protypeing it.

My neighbor who farms about 2000 acres just traded his R 52 Gleaner in on a new STS. He loves the machine. He was in a field across the road from my place the other day, and he was harvesting a 25' swath of 50 bu Roundup Ready beans at about 8mph. I have never seen anything cut beans like that big green monster. I was combining with my 4400 in the field across the road and watched as he harvested about 60 acres in the time it took me to finish 10 with my old 4400. He could have done more if he had not had gotten ahead of his trucks, and had to sit and wait for a half an hour.
