Do You Check Hydraulic Fluid With Tractor Running

Do you check hydraulic fluid with the tractor running to get an accurate measurement? Or should I have it off when I check?

I check our tractor's hydraulic fluid when the tractor is off. You'll also want to make sure the cylinders are in the same position every time you check the fluid level. I retract mine each time. This will give you a more accurate picture of what's going on.

Tractor off you might have mess to wipe up.

Our has a dipstick near the 3-pt lift in a spot that is almost as hard to get to as the fluid filler hole in the same area.
