In the lower right hand console under the transmission shift linkage is a small switch. It is called the 3rd gear lockout switch and has apparently been bypassed or is not working. Get it fixed!!!!!!!!!! This will limit speed to about 18 mph. 26.8 is way to fast to safely steer a combine in addition to getting speeding tickets due to SMV sign.

Our 1680 will go into high in 3rd gear but our 2188 won't. For what its worth the 2188 is still faster on the road (17.5)

we bypass the switch with no affect on the machine we only do it when we have known operaters in the machine..and long distance to travel..the idea of it not working in third gear is if the switch is activated while u are at road speed u will do major damage i suggest get it fix and only use it like we do or not at all leaving it the way u have it will cost u money sooner than later

In Oz I would say most combines have the tab on the switch adjusted to allow high in third,I've had three this way with no ill effects in upto 4000 hours on one 2188.We do big road miles and it sure does help, but you should have top operators not steering wheel attendants as a good bump in the road can unsettle the machine.
