We traded MT 765's with 2,000 hours for new MT 765's. Pretty much the exact tractor with all the updates.

The last straight tractor trade I made cost me $3.00 an hr. That was an 85HP tractor for a 100HP tractor, both used both times. Chads

Another part of the discussion should be how you figure the cost per hour of the tractor you're trading in. We almost never trade for a like tractor. So I Generally use the purchase price - recieved price, then any repairs, etc, to figure what the piece of machinery cost me to use. The last tractor I sold this way, cost me $3.00 an hour to use with all repairs and new tires figured in. Chads

Chads. Do you farm or have a gardenIJ Maybe I'm figuring something wrong but I'm in the 20-30 dollar an hour range. I don't think you can get 30 or 40 acres an hour done on 3.00 per hour horsepower. Maybe I'm wrong.

I didn't say I was doing 30 to 40 acres an hour;0). But no, I'm not a garden farmer either. running 22-25 ft equipment with quite a bit of no till. Chads

If your running a tractor, I don't care if its a 33 hp tractor, it costs more to run than three dollars an hour. If your costs are so good, I've got some land I'd like to rent you and an 8010 you can run for awhile. After you have run one for a harvest, you'll know what everyone is upset about on the 8010. I'm not one to say you have to be in a war to understand how terrible war is, but the battle with that 8010 was fierce to say the least. We cut more corn with our worn out traded in 2388 this year than our 8010 ever even thought about cutting.

I didn't say that it cost me $3 to run the tractors. I said it cost me $3 to OWN. There is a difference. And, I'm not talking in the same HP ranges as you are either. One was about 100HP, and the other was 150HP, but it was kind of a "main" tractor for about 6 years. Don't get all worked up, I know we're not comparing apples to apples. As far as the 8010's go, I think the stories of their demise have been prematurely written, but we shall see. Plenty of guys having as bad or worse prob's with the STS's. Your old worn out 2388 would probably be a big step up for me;0) I'm not big, so I've gotta operate cheap. Can't get the deals the big guys get, so you gotta make it up somewhere. By the way, I'm not bragging, I just thought you'd want to know where some of the competition is, I was really hoping you'd get more replies. Trying to keep equipment expenses(read payments_depreciation) below $25_acre. Chads
