In many acres of testing, from wheat, soybeans, and milo, there has NEVER been a chain failure. Even if the chain would become uncoupled, it could not exit the header due to the tolerances maintained; ie it would bind the system and bypass the hydraulic circuit. The same scenario applies to the return channel. As for doing what you're already doing, you are not cutting at the speeds possible with the Razer; it is not possible. You cannot reduce your header width and keep your machine full. You cannot match the reduction of shatter loss provided by the Razer's smooth clean cut. I hope this has answered your concerns.
