sonds great the job you did with the cat! I had a 480 (375hp) for 6 years with an 8 row geringhoff RD headder and we have not an STS 9880 with 465 hp an driving with 9 rows! And what I saw is that the cat startet losing with 8 rows over the chaffer (4,5mph) and with the STS there were no losses until the headder stopped at about 6,5mph so what shall I tell youIJ I don`t know how much maize you have per acre but I can not believe that the little loading system on the cat is able to bring the maize from 18 rows up to the hopper! Our`s was not able to do this with 8rows! I don`t have to say anything to this - stay on the ground!

loss over the chaffer on a 480 with an 8 row cornhead is purely operator error and nothing else. A 480 or 485 is a 5.5 + mph combine with a 1230 cornhead no matter the corn yield, as long as you have it properly set. If I were a betting man I would say your bottom sieve was too tight (less than 17) and the cleaning fan was too slow (needs to always run at 1550 or above in corn). Also, if there are any risers installed on the upper sieve, other than the one in the center, which divides the left and right sieve, those risers should be removed. If your lexion is equiped with the 640, 800 and 962 RPM pulleys, those will not work in corn because they do not go slow enough. You will need the pulley set that includes the 500, 640, 800 rpm pulley set, 500 rpm is for corn. There is also a pulley set specifically for corn that is only a 300 rpm set. Everyone knows a lexion 480 is a 12 row only machine and the corn yield sin the states far exceed thos anywhere else in the world and the productivity of the 480 with a 1230 or 1820.

I have had 5 years experience with 8 row 22 inch Geringhoff RD on an R72, and feel it is the best if you need best stalk chopping at the head. Extra pull for an 8 row did not seem too bad. I know of a dyno test on R62 putting out about 170 HP to the head drive. If possible, use beefiest single speed drive, regardless of brand combine, as you do not need to vary head speed with ground speed and they should be more reliable over time and acres. They cut stalk off at front of rolls, therefore ground speed is basically independent of head job, 3 to 7 mph in my experience. $.02.

Sorry but I drove with more than 17 chaffer and fan up to 1500 so what can I tell you the lex made 70 to_hour and nothing more so as you said 5,5mph and more how much does this combine bring with 18rows 170to_h - you won`t tell me this orIJ

sorry I forgot our yielding! We have corn up to 19to_ha I think the world record is about 24to_ha so I think it is not so bad. The only problem we have is that the maize is not always as dry as in the states - we raise upt to 35% moisture sometimes. With this high moisture the APS breaks the corn much more than every rotor-machine. I can only tell you what I have seen in the 6 years in our condicions - and you won`t beleive that I drive 6 years with the wrong settings!
