Combines Draper Heads

936D on a JD 9610 with duals. Ran Durum and HRS Wheat through header. Ran very well, followed level of land real well. A couple of times ran a ridge of dirt in center and had to dig out. Cut very well. Guage wheels did a very good job. Fingers pulled this years downed crop very well. Durum is known to stand up in front of grain augers on regular heads but the draper head just let the crop slide right in. Only problem was with muddy conditions and downed crop. Mud wanted to build up on metal frame under center draper and also on leaf springs. I am looking at installing plastic to fix this. Hitch is not built very well since I have seen other units with broken ends on hitches. I don't pull mine around much so should last ok for me. I was going to try on soybeans but once I got the new 30 foot Flex head with Crary Air Finger reel in the field I didn't even want to try the draper. I think the header would have worked well picking up the canola swaths that had blown around for some people. My swaths held together but I heard of a guy using a flex head to get his remaining crop. This year we put a 930D on a 9650, worked really well. We pulled it around quiet a bit with just a pickup, to do this we had to modify the tounge which was kind of a pain but worked well. Also we ran into trouble with the dirt and mud building up behind the auger. Somedays this would become such a problem you couldn't cut a bin without having to dig in and clean it out. As long as it was dry or you were in a flat terrain you would have no problem.

Mud would build up on the metal plate behind the auger of the draper that fed grain into the feederhouse. Sorry I didn't make that clear the first time.

Ive seen a 962 macdon, the same hdr. in a Farris trailer ha had to take the transport wheels off and cut a couple inches off the reel arm tips.

Have a caseih 1052 which is a Mcdon 972. On dry flat ground header is fine. After a rain I had trouble with it pushing dirt on heavy ground. I don't have the auto height control, which may help. Also when cutting beans that had a small amount of grass and wet ant hills, I had trouble with the center belt jamming. Outside drive rollers have rubber on them for gripping belt. Center belt does not. Unless someone can tell me how to fix problem I'll go back to flex for beans.
