Can't go wrong with the original 300 series 30' auger header. We use it on or 86' R7 and works great. Too much to go wrong on drapers especially MacDon junk. Plus there's the transporting ease with the original. Short crops will feed better with a draper but in my opinion it ain't worth the pain....

I would go with a honey bee draper 36 foot header. You will see it feed so much better then the 330 auger head. Plus you will travel the same speed as the 30 foot auger header and still be taking in more crop. R72

I'm sure a draper head will shine in most all conditions but!!!! If you want the old Gleaner heads with 4" flight to work well in most conditions you may need to do a couple things. One is add a channel iron under auger a few inches forward of the most forward one now. This will stop material from coming around top of auger when material is resistant to slide. Two is install tall (4") flighting to a center line of finger area. This will suck in the mass quantity of straw a well tuned N can handle. The newer Gleaner heads with 7" flighting will handle mass quantities just the way it is but surely won't match a well tuned draper in some conditions. Good luck with what you find.
