Combines Draper or RididIJ AnyoneIJ

Our good friend keeps telling us bad stories about those green drapers, too. He buys new machines every year and said, he had more downtime on the 936D, than on his combines this summer. Besides that he can't cut soybeans with them. That's why we stay away from those. Have you ever considered a MacDonIJ We've had those for five years now and don't want to be without. We have 9650s. You can run about as fast with a 36'draper as you can with a 30'auger head. Each of our heads does about 5-6000 acres of wheat per year. In five years I have only replaced the center draper a couple of times, because of operator error. Drapers only get hurt by foreign objects like rocks and posts Holes can be patched, splice kits are made. The bearings last us usually more than two years. Once in a while a hydraulic hose breaks because they're not routed too well. They are much lighter than a green draper, cut soybeans, have a transport system, that doesn't require a 1ton pickup or a homemade dolly. They take a lot of abuse. MacDon's harvest support is second to none.

They look ok to me. Macdons and Honeybees work great but you need that adapter and they aren't cheap. The Deer fits right on. We have a 30' Honeybee on a 4890 swather and we are pleased with it

I run a 936D on a CTS II. It was owned by a custom cutter before I bought it and now have used it for 3 harvests so it has some acres on it. Only thing I have had to do is replace the bearings on the lower roller on the center draper. Other than that, it has been trouble free. I found I was able to go the same speed with the additional 6ft because the feeding was that much better. I like the 936D because it has now center arm to support the reel and has no seperate hydraulic system since the header uses the combine's hydraulics. You might want to check out this thread. http:__www.harvesting.com_combine_deere_general_forum_messages_18296.html

I screwed up on my message and meant to say that I am glad the 936D doesn't have the center arm. The center arm was a trouble spot on our Macdon.

I can believe that having seen some Case 36ers But the fingers on my reel are shorter in the centre than the outside, due to reel sag and sickle contact.

My header has only bat reels since I harvest only small grains. No fingers to cut off.

Our Honeybee we ordered in the May of 04. It came with a UII reel, transport, and the in cab remote. They send everything you need and instructions. You've got to pull the relay for the float, put a needle valve in the flow control, next switch a couple of wire hook ups around because it runs with the reverser motor, and finally speed up the the reverser motor by simply turning the set screw. The kit comes with all the hardware includeing quick couplers and adapting arms. Sounds like lots but once you do it its real easy. It cost us about $34000 Canadian. It's 30' and the 4890 handles it like a toy. Send an e-mail if you want some phone ners on getting one.
