rod I'd look for a hydraulic line or hose against the cab floor or maybe a bad cab mount_support.

look for a hose (steering or foot -n- inch valve) against the air ducts under the cab. I've found this a number of times. Also check for low hydro drive pressure.

Some thing else you might need to check or do is to put a attuenuator (not sure on the spelling) on the combine foot n inch valve circuit

Rod: Two possbilities: 1)Hydro drive pressure is set too low and is bypassing. There is a test port right on the drive motor to check. Probably want a min 6500 psi - more if you have hills, a large header or bin extensions.2) Install a hydraulic attenuator in the line from foot n inch valve (which also contains shims for setting drive presure) to the drive motor. look on a later model or a 23 series to see where it is installed.

I have a 97 2188 and I had the same noise very annoying. There is a kit available from case that in one of the lines that goes to the hyd motor and it changes the pitch of the oil so it no longer makes the noise. I believe it cost me about 90.00. If you look at a 2388 it has this kit already on it. It consists of 2 hoses and a small tube about 12 inches long.
