WHERE are the location of the top double nuts on the idlerIJ IF they are not at least 2" above the stop the idler cannot follow the belt as it stretches. The nuts are only to raise the idler up for belt replacement or service.

your talking about the rubber bushingIJ in the book they talk 2.4 inch compressed I think. the lock nuts are at the top of the bolt.

if the double locks are at the top of the idler bolt so as the idler can follow the belt then this is not the problem. IF your sheaves have shiney areas in the BOTTOM of the grooves with a new belt, worn sheaves are the problem. Rare, must be lots of hours or sandy conditions.IJ
