There are definatly some different ducks on the roads these days... a couple years ago I was turning into the yard with my 760 massey and my dad was in our 7720 behind me. He pulled into the middle of the road to stop traffic from trying to pass and this little car drove half way in the ditch around my dad and right under the header of my combine when I was just about in the driveway. Another time was with spring seeding and a friend of my was in front of me with a bi-directional and harrows turning left off of the highway onto the gravel road. I was behind him with in a Steiger and airseeder and this guy going to the lake with his truck pulling a camper and boat was trying to pass me while my buddy was mid way through his turn.. so I just kept turning into the truck forcing him off the left side of the road onto the shoulder and made him slow down. And the thing is I had my turning signal on and i was almost in the middle of the highway to make sure some idiot wouldnt try to pass. The guy still ahd the nerve to give me the finger... If I woulda had the time I would ahve stopped and gave him a peice of my mind!! but yet the people who know what its like to drive farm equiupment will usually slow right down or pull off to the side of the road till you pass.

Ok, here's my stories. Back in the early 90's we used to plant wheat with the international grain drills that you could pull behind each other (you know what I'm talking about). Anyway, my dad was making a right turn into the drive way when a drunk driver plows into the back drill and total demolishes it. The drill was a total loss and of course the driver had no insurance. Next, at the same drive way entrance to our farm my cousin was making a left hand turn into the drive. He had his blinker on and as he was turning left a car tried to pass the tractor on the left. Needless to say they hit each other. The car went flying off of the covert and landed upside down. Damage to the tractor consisted of a broken front spindle and tie rod. Of course the driver had no insurance, but the state trooper gave him a ticket. Funny thing, the drive wanted us to help him flip his car back over so he could keep on going. One more, (didn't happen to us this time) our neighbor was driving his combine (header on) down a gravel road where there was sort of a sharp turn. A car was approaching from the opposite direction and hit the header. Unfortuanlly the edge of the header killed the driver of the car.

I got held up last year in my 1460 by a jogger. Anyone ever had that happenIJ I had to finally act like I was gonna run him over before he finally moved the heck outa my way. Ive been given the finger a few times too. I can relate to this.

a friend of my dad's was killed back when i was just a pup. he had an 806 gas with a flimsy cozy cab on it. and was pulling a rotary scythe with it windrowing stalks...he was turning into a drive way crossing the other lane of traffic which was straight with a T intersection...when someone behind him decided to pass...(mainly because he was slowing down for the corner). anyways...he was turning and got the tracotr sideways in the road and the rotary scythe was about half way into the passing lane...adn the guy's car hit the corner of the scythe kind of popping the front end up...slamming it into the side of the cab...jackknifing the tractor and rotary scythe...then it flipped over and caught fire. the guy driving the car got out. tried to get dad's buddy out...but couldnt. they guy filled out a report that said dad's buddy was going to turn the other direction and didnt know he was going left...instead of right...(we all know what the actually happened) anyways the guy got off scott free while a good man died with a wife and 2 kids...
