I wish I knew what to tell you, but the description is too vague. I dont want to say the wrong thing and end up costing someone a lot of money. There were several posts about this a while back. I know Farm Kid 2 has a lot of experience with injector pumps. Other than that, more information about the problem might help better diagnose it.

All I can tell you about the combine engine is that it hasn't got as much power as it used to have, one thing I didn't mention is my neighbour says that it dosn't smoke, I think that the pump wants opening up a little, but we don't know how to do it. The tractor engine runs well, dosn't use oil has plenty of power but just won't start when its cold.

If 466 has 3-4 thousand hours and has the old style inj. pump (not a Bosch I believe) then I would suspect that the pump needs rebuilding. This happened on my 1480 this year and cost 1500.00 for pump and installed myself. Would suggest if you go this way check rebuilders price against reman from CNH. Poor cold starting could be due to timing alitte bit off seems to make a lot of difference. Check with injection pump rebuilder in area. Weapon

Just take the cover off the top of the pump 4 little metric screws loosen the jam not on the screw and back it out 2 turns should be plenty.I have turned several up. Other wise ask a tractor technician they can show you very easy to do.
