I finished the beans on Friday. The weigh wagon results said I had 36 bu yield in one part of the field but I think my average for both fields I had was about 30 since I lost parts of the field due to excess rain. I wanted at least 30 bu yield and was happy. Some neighbors had up to 40 on some fields - some had less than 30 yield also. I borrowed a John Deere 930 flex head with a Crary air real - worked great. I was going to try out the John Deere Draper head that I bought this year but after starting out on the field with a flex, I knew it could not even come close to doing as good as job as the flex head. The rocks that I missed while picking this spring either went under the cutterbar or just sat next to the guards until I stopped and picked them off. Only had three small rocks end up in the rocktrap on the combine. I will have some soybeans again next year.

Thanks alot Duane! We're going to try at least 40 if not 80 acres of beans next year. We might just rent a flex head the first year to see how they do, before we invest a bunch of money. I think we are going to go with a Round-up Ready variety.

A flex head is the way to go. The beans stood up well for me when I didn't have the flex head to use and also when we got 4 inches of snow. I may look for a flex head to buy but it looks like with the demand for flex heads - I may want to get by for another year. Some NH3 has been going down now and I think a lot more will be now with more people finishing up with their sunflowers and corn. There is some dry being spread also. That is what I have planned for some of next years canola ground. It seems to work well for me to have the local elevator spread the sulphur and phosphates for me and I incorporate that with my NH3 applicator that has the lange knifes that seem to do a good job of incorporation.
