YES The E has the same engine as the D-17. I wish they still built them.

Ran a E for years until it was simply worn out. The D17 motor was still running great when I sold it to a person to replace the engine in a D17 tractor.

I wished they built all the old allis stuff and still priced reasonable.

both had 226 CI engines but they were NOT the same exactly. Crankshafts were diff.,(thrust brgs were on the front of a WD and center main on a D17) water pump and gov. and carb were all diff. I changed one into a WD and had to cut off the front of the crank, change linkage on the carb, add the variable speed linkage to the gov. and had to use the WD water pump and something else here that I can'tremember. Also have to block off fuel pump hole. Used the WD flywheel and press plate and an E Gleaner Clutch.
