Combines E to a K or F is it worth the upgrade

I don't think the K is going to give you much more over the E, as both are 2-3 row machines. An F is a full 4-row machine. Around where I live in New Jersey, a late F diesel with 4 row orange head (30" rows) and a grain head will usually sell for $2500-3500 if in good shape. In other areas of the country, a good F can be had for a lot less. In some places, a long-walker F2 probably could be bought for that price. Gleaner F_F2 with 292 GM gas engines in them like their fuel, as does my K2 with the 250 GM, just so you know.

I owned a late 76 F diesel and was it a sweetheart. Fuel economy and power were excellent. It easily handles a 4 row or up to 15' flex head. The parts for the F series are very easy to get ahold of and very easy to fix when necessary. The EIII and K are almost identical machines so your capacity would change very little.

I was wondering too how good is the fuel economy for a gas F, my grandpa has one and will probley sell me so how good of freinds is it with the fuel barrelIJ

I am not shure what motor you have, but we had a gas 292 in a F2 one time. It loved to chug the gas. Easy 50 gallon a day and only combining 20 acres per day. I now have a F2 with the 433I diesel, and it uses about .5 gallon per acre. The diesels are very easy on the fuel.

I have a long tail K2 diesel and an F diesel. lean toward the F hard, much more capacity, fuel usage on diesel very reasonable. Roughly 1 gpa or less.

I had a F 6 cylender diesel with a430 corn head, 15 and latter 16' flex. I was very dissipointed with it. The engine was great. Ran very cheap started good had plenty of power never gave me any problem at all. The rest of the machene was built very light in my opinion. I had problems with just about every thing. on the bright side It was easy to fix. If your set on gleaner get a hydro. I had the belt drive first gear was to slow second too fast and reverse way to fast. Not enuff range with the verible speed. Would usialy handle 2 nd with either head but you could not slow down for the headlands or tuff spots ended up in first most all the time. Paid $2,000 for it with the heads sold it for $2,000 after i got tired of fixing and not geting any thing done. The horsepower ratings out of a 1980 F2_K2 owners manual show the F2 has either a 112hp 292 GM gas or a 95hp AC433I diesel. The K2 engines are either the 85hp GM 250 gas or the 72hp AC433T diesel. The gas engines are 6 cylinders and the diesels are 4 cylinders. The Fs have 70 gallon fuel tanks, 37.5" cylinders, 120bu. grain tanks, and 4 straw walkers. The Ks have a 52 gallon fuel tanks, 27" cylinder, 96bu grain tank, and 3 straw walkers.
