Combines E85 fuel in older gas combinesIJ

Using E85 would not be reccommended in your older gas engine. In fact there are few engines newer than 2000 models that can burn it. As I understand it, E85 is corrosive to the older fuel systems and will eventually ruin some of the parts. You can burn it, but eventually you will cause some damage. You can use E10 and be fine. I know there is quite a price difference between E10 and E85 but you would burn more E85 so the savings is not as dramatic as it first appears. In cars, the gas mileage with E85 is about 20% less than E10 or regualar gas.

I run E85 in my 05' Silverado 5300 Vortec Flex Fuel. Notice about a 1.0-1.5 MPG loss burning E85, currently here E85 is around $1.70 and E-10 is around $2.20

The chev motors had to go to different fuel injectors with E-85 motors. The rest of the motor is the same. Its a l59 motor that goes either way in newer pickups. The ethanol is more corrosive on some parts. I want a E-85 motor and a source of ethanol to get. No one in IN carries it except Terre Haute.....we have so missed the boat! The next pickup I buy will have E-85 capacity when IN finally gets on board. In the mean time I will burn the expensive imported overpriced gas and sell my corn too cheap! Curious anyone else burn E-85 and results so farIJ I also heard 2 miles less per gallon.....but that makes up difference in price!
