I'm going to take a shot in the dark here and ask if you put extra links in the feeder chainIJ I bet you already lengthened the feeder. Is this the first year with this outfitIJ Is the corn yielding wellIJ I assume the hole in the cornhead is the right width for a 1680 throat vs a 1660 throatIJ What size sprocket is on the auger drive for the corn headIJ I guess you can see I answer questions with questions!!! Good luck and have a safe harvest. Brian

I had this problem on my 883 head a few years ago, mine does it more so on high speed than low speed, I went to JD and got a grate that goes over the top of the auger at the throat openning, kind of looks like a piece of hog paneling.

This is my third season with this combine. Yes, the problem is worse with good yielding corn. I don't know about the extra link in chain, field tracker and a new feeder chain were on combine when I purchased it. But it feeds alright in wheat and soybeans. I will have to check as to what size sprocket is on auger as I didn't realize there were different sizes. Yes, the cornhead is set for a wide throat. The corn stalks are really dry so am running more trash through combine than usual. Thanks for responding back to me.... Have a good harvest.

Well it sounds like you have the easy to fix stuff covered. We had a bear of a time with this problem. The idea for the "cage" panel sounds like it might work. We moved the auger up and forward. Then went to the slow header drive sprockets but it never cured the problem. Eventually we slightly widened the stripper plates. I hope this helps. Brian
