Combines easiest way to change grates and concaves on 2344

Do you have the concave extention onIJ We don't split ours and they come out ok, also try to set your wheels out abit if possible, more room helps a lot. The grates are a bit of a pain, with more bolts. I would think I can swap everything on our 1680 in just over an hour on my own. I can do 3 concaves in 20 minutes. Well oiled bolts help alot too!!

I always found that doing the change over was a little challenging but it gets better with time. The easiest way is drop the concaves 1_3 of the way down, loosen eye bolts on right side and then begin with removing the centre concave first. When reinstalling them always put your centre concave in last this I found is easier than trying to put them in sequence. I lay a thin sheet of plywood over my augers to prevent the concaves from damaging the flighting and becoming hooked. After hooking the right side on the round pipe we use a 3' bar to lift the left hand side when insering the 3_8" bolts. It always seems that you can use an extra set of hands. Good luck!!

We usually drop all 3 concaves to the augers. Remove the 2 pins that hold the entire plate. Use an air tool to remove bolts. like the above mentioned remove the center one first. Reinstall with concaves on augers and the use a long bar to raise the concaves up to the pins and install. I welded a small chain link to the pins to help pulling them out and saves your fingers from being pinched.

Make sure that you tighten down the eyebolts on the right hand side BEFORE you completely tighten the bolts on the left hand side. This will ensure that the hooks are properly seated on the pipe. It's a one man job for me, and a tapered punch for lining up the 3_8" holes is a must!

How or where do you get to the nuts to loosen the eye bolts. I am new to this task. thanks !!

have you ever thought about putting short hyd cylinders where those two pins are on the concaveIJ sure would be nice at times to raise or lower the concave from inside.
