We have a 1680 1992 model, I put a heavy battery down on the front axle next to the reverser and tied it in series with the others up top, has helped a lot, I had the same problem, my dad is 83 and likes to drive the combine for a couple hrs but has to rely on the reverser, has not had it refuse to unplug since I put the 3rd battery on. Hopes you find the same.

Three things, check if stone trap l shapped paddles are in the raised position (if installed)and get the aftermarket drive sprocket that has less teeth. That REAllY helps, gives more power to unplug it. Cost is little. Three chain makes no difference for me. Check for corrosion on cable ends, battery ends also.

I am not sure what you mean by a drive sprocket with fewer teeth. It seems to me that the diameter of the sprocket would have to be decreased to get fewer teeth, and either the driven sprocket diameter increased or the position of the starter motor moved in or out. Does this sound right. Kevin
