Combines Electrical Problem on R 52 1998

You might want to pull your consol panel the switches on mounted on. I have a 92' R-42 and have melted the fan switch do two a bad ground in harness to fan motor. Or you can feel the panel around the switch for heat. The big kicker is somtimes the light comes on when the lights are on and I run out the unload auger but I have not had time to find this problem as it only happens a couple of times a year.

Could be currant supply or ground. Find ground junction on floor of counsel as well as heavy ground wire under cab near that area and remove them to clean them up and tighten. Could run jumper cable from ground junction to good ground on combine to double check ground. Most likely you have to much voltage drop accross cab relay which is located inside right access door of panel. Short two heavy posts together with heavy electrical draw on to see if voltage comes up for you. Without having a digital voltmeter handy that is what I would do. I don't think you are in danger of things shuting down on you but should be corrected. Silver4life can do similiar test and sounds like his machine bothers under max electrical load. Auto auger swing is usually the first thing to point out somewhat lower voltage at cab and or in overhead because module timer puts extra demand on voltage in overhead. Instead of you holding currant to swing coil with switch the timer is doing it for you. Also on that '92 machine the master circuit breaker was fastened in hot engine compartment. It should of been moved out to area under rotary screen where it is cooler. Gleaner even suggested to go with next higher amp breaker when we were having trouble back then. Good luck

Sounds like a bad blower switch. This is a very common problem. Not only should the switch be replaced but the electrical conector should be replaced also. they should be not just the cheap spade connectors but the higher quality connector your dealer should have (it is the open crimp style used for housings) They shopuld be installed with propper crimper and then soldered. Then they should be coated with di-electric grease and installed. This is the problem about 99 percent of the time. vstk
