That was not necessary. You want me to go into detail what a chunk of crap the tr 97 was that we tried out this summerIJ Slam a hammer on your hand if your bored and need something to do. later Deerebines

Thank you deerbines, If someone could answer me one little question. Why did they go away from those steel canester containers, with the wing nut that you tighten to seal the canester upIJ Now they have those useless, clip on covers, maybe cause they look nice and all, but looking nice doesn't compare to a pricely motor job later on in life cause you dusted the motor because off a tarable dust cover. I accully got word today from our dealer that there are some kind of pluggs in the radiator area that may have fallen out or just not been put in the holes and they think that that might be the dust problem. I'll know better tommorow when they come out to look at it. I'll stay in touch. I'm starting to get busy here we have coloured beans 3-4 days away from harvesting.

I'm sure there was a cost difference is why the changeover. Every company out there I don't care what color looks for cheaper components on to lower build costs. What I don't understand though is they've had these style of canisters on some of the o.t.r. trucks for years.....most steel not plastic though....and have worked well. It sounds to me like the filter is doing a swell job but you need a precleaner like the 4020's had before it goes to the air cleaner housing. Am I understanding your correctlyIJ You just having to clean the filter more often than anything else.....the dust isn't bypassing into the engine is itIJ.....Makine sure I'm reading this correctly

I don't know how the 9650 is set up, but I will relay my experience with my 4960 tractor. I was having the same problem having to clean the filter every 6 to 10 hrs. My problem was on top of the aspirator. An ambitious bird or mouse had hauled a bunch of trash in there for a nest. It restricted air flow enough to affect air filter cleaning. I had to remove the whole unit in order to see the top side of the aspirator. Once I cleaned the top of the aspirator, everything worked great. Might be something to check.

We had the combine into the dealer over the winter and they said they checked that all out. We had a similer problem on our old 8760 deere tractor it was sucking the exaust back into the filter.

We've gotten to the point of just having two filters on hand to just change them every day and blow the one out when we get time to. If this canester style is a product improvement i would be ashamed to put my name on it. The dust hasn't got to the motor yet but someday i bet it will. I don't see how this can be a cost productive style, since when we bought our first 9500 for approx 120,000 and now they are 240,000 approx i don't seem to see the price declining in any way. And thats another thing how can this equipment keep increasing 2- 5% a year and corn prices haven't changed in 35 years.

It's not only the airfilter, it's the radiator, too, what plugs up a lot quicker on our 9650s. Just look at this flimmsy rotary screen and you know why. When the machine runs the vibration etc. makes the screen to loose its touch to the housing, letting dirt go by. But this is the smallest negativ experience we had this summer. When we get back home I am planing on writing a full harvest summary about the 9650STS and JD's service to be posted on this website.
