Combines Engine Oil Dipstick

YES! I blew most of the engine oil out last year. My Father was running the 96 R62 with the 8.3 Cummins. He just happened to get off to check something else and saw oil dripping down the left side of the combine. Again it may have been not pushing the dipstick in all the way, but I was very close to losing the motor. Got away with draining the rest and doing a basic oil change. Dan at Hurtt said no update or other information, so I just check often.

It's happened on our R72 with the cummins as well. The cummins mechanic used a center-punch to roughen up where the rubber on the dipstick tightens up. I still use tie-wire though to make sure that the dipstick won't pop out again. I wonder if it is oil getting tossed up by the crankshaft agains't the dipstick forcing it out causing the problem.john
