We replaced an engine in a 4420 last fall, and it is probably not much different. First drain fluids. Remove the hoods. Remove the radiator and condenser. Take the starter, a_c comressor off. Unhook all of the wiring, fuel lines, temperature gauge, and throttle linkage. Take off all of the belts. We removed all of the fan and rotory screen assembly. There were 2 motor mounts to take off (on the radiator side). Remove the seat in the cab. Prop the seat housing door open. The 329 engine had 4 bolts holding the motor to the bell housing. I "felt" around for them and took them out with a long extension and an air wrench. There wasn't much room in there for a rachet or wrench. Every thing should be unhooked. We removed the motor from the front side with a 4020 and a loader. We put it back in with the 4020 from the rotory screen side. Either way will work. The motor should have brackets on it to pick it up. It takes one guy to operate the loader_hoist, and one to pry the motor lose. I used some really long frost bars to pry it loose. It took some persuasion, but it came loose. Just make sure you have all the bolts out of the bell housing. It is a rather simple job. Getting a motor out is a lot easier than putting one in. I probably forgot something, so someone else can fill it in. Make sure the motor will go in the 4320. A 329 from a 4030 will not work in a 4420, we tried. Hopefully the 404 from the combine are the same as the tractor. You will probably have to change the oil pan, and a few other things. Good luck.
