Are you unhappy with the job the workshop did or is it just a princible thingIJ What happened to the guys that had their motors fail, did they get new engines or just rebuilt motorsIJ New motors for such a long period of production would really hurt deere's bottom line, but as you say, you didn't pay all that money, to have to rebuild your motor every 500hrs. One would assume they would have some kind of insurance for that kind of thing. Has deere ever admitted to what the problem wasIJ Ie. was it a production thing in the factory or was it an engineering thing in the design of motorIJ Either way, they have lost a lot of respect with their motors and unfortunatly mud sticks when in comes to rebuilding reputations.

My question is this, what if any , guarantee did they give on the remainder of the engineIJ Did they do an diagnostic work to assure that the rest of the engine was up to specificationIJ That would be the first key for me, knowing that the rest of the engine had not been compromised by the weak crank. If they did do the diagnostic process, than what would be the problem with the underhaulIJ If the crank had not failed and no other component had been damaged, than the underhaul and new crank should give a long life should it notIJ

I agree 100%, for that kind of money things should work,if not get a whole new motor.

Did Deere contact you about your engineIJ How do they know which ones need to be worked onIJ I'm in central Iowa and dealer here seems to be pretty tight-lipped about any problem. It's like they don't want anyone to hear about it. So is this a real problem or something that's been blown out of proportionIJ I have two friends with 05 combines that would like to know the truth.

Engine has not failed yet. They have a bad run of crankshafts that have failed. They are going by serial number of engines that had that run of crankshaft with bigger hole in it.

John Deere will do as they please on replacing engine or rebuilding it. You really do not have a say. Yes you can hollar and get mad and threaten to take business else where but they wont change. Not many green guys will even admit there is a problem. There to proud of green. Now the red guys would be all over red and we would get it replaced not rebuilt. I know of some tranys and engines that were replaced. I remember on new chevy diesel pickups they had lots of alison tranys that they replaced not rebuilt. That is another reason I just traded off a 230hr deere I surely dont want a knew engine overhauled. If it was mine and you intend on keeping it I would not back down I surly didnt last year with the 8010 and we did get another year waranty and knew cleaning system not rebuilt. But I wish you good luck on getting engine and also not to many oil leaks if they rebuild.
