Not a real common problem but it does happen. Case has paid for new updated doors for some. They may for you also. Never hurts to ask, especially if you got cut a little.
The exploding door syndrome usually comes from a miss adjusted door, especially on the 2100 series combines. These doors can be miss adjusted for quite some time before they fail. I would contact C.N.H. at 262-636-6011 and tell customer service what has happened. Contact your local dealer and get them on your side. When you get the new door installed make sure there is not any metal to glass contact in the hinge area. Also make sure when the door closes there is very little deflection of the glass around the cab post near the hinge. If there is there (I have not checked lately)should be some shims available through service parts to move the hinge outward to decrease the deflection in the glass. All 2100 series doors should have been checked years ago for proper deflection but that didn't always get done. Mick
Thanks for the help. They did put 1 shim on the front of the door, but I do notice more header noise now maybe I did not need the shim. I do not feel the old door was out of adjustment, the only thing I would say is it closed a little to tight and I did try to loosen the pin and move it out, but there wasnt very much adjustment there.
I recal there being a service bulletin that suggested that the door hinges on early 2100's be lubed with a light oil, such as auto trans fluid periodicly. The hinge would rust and bind, causing the door to shatter when it was opened. They changed the material of the hinge on later models.
Yes it happened to me on my 2188 . As I was opening the door it exploded in my face. I was in total shock , i thought somebody had fired a gunshot or something. I also lost vision in my left eye from the incident from a piece of flying glass.I really wish the company would replace all the defected doors before any more serious injuries accur.Especially when other members of family or children are involved. They also replaced my door to a new version, it only took one day to get done ,
I hope you did not suffer permanent damage to your eye, it would be a shame to loose your sight over this. I would like to know if the 2366 door has had any problems.
