Combines Extending helical bars HElP

Tl, My feeling is that any reverse bars is too many. I just set up my R-72 with high bar_four low bar instead of the two reverse bars I was running - Tested beans with it today - beans were 20.4% so don't know if I have all setup perfectly yet. I do know that capacity goes up tremendously If reverse bars are out. I have a '97 which has the low wire seperator concave(which slows flow) so I am hoping losses will be extremely low. Hyper, could you give your opinion if I will have losses with this setupIJ My low bars are at least 5_16" lower,(the 3_8 rasp kind) and I did not do any helical bar additions, but I have loewen's extended discharge cyl. kit on it. I have the High wire threshing concave open design, and I have every other wire out of the seperator grate. Thanks for your response.

Yes four is too many! You'll never get Gleaner to endorse the Hyper mods as suggested on this site however I see that Gleaner says go ahead with extended bars like you have and run two reversers instead of four. I have a neighbor who has switch to that and says it made a lot of difference. It is perhaps a little late in the year to do the Hyper mods anyway but I would suggest replacing two reversers with two forward bars.

I extended the helicals on R-72 and I did not relocate all of my helicals. I just found the last helical on the left hand side (seperator side)and added a small piece to it at the same curveture until it reached almost out to the stop sign. This only took a piece of helical about a foot to a foot and a half long. Very easy to do, just anchor it with two or three bolts and large heavy duty washers to keep it from pulling the bolts through the cage. This really help keep the material flowing through the machine. Hope this helps.

Ramrod, I am sure you installed two F concave rasp bars on front of the seperateing grate full width, laid flat and bolted to the remaining rods.Should work, the lower the low cylinder bars the bigger the difference in height which increases action and relieves pressure.Check and count losses, really don't want to see them get over 3_4 bpa.total.Your grate should stay open and seperate better and with the low bars instead of reverse shoe load be less. Good luck! Hyper
