It's been a lONG time, but I thought the f gas was a d19 motorIJ I don't remember anything else besides the chevy engine. Isn't the e3 motor a 4 cylIJ

CII and Early F were the AC 262 gas engine(D19)6 cyl. The later F (1970 up)and F2 were the GM 292 6 cyl gas. The EIII was the AC 226 (D17) 4 cyl.

If I am correct that engine is built on the diesel block so they are overbuilt for a gas engine. Though I do not know how they are for fuel consumption. Ricahrd.

If anything like my CII with the 262 gas. You will have a good relationship with the fuel barrel. The previous owner of my CII went so far as to mount a second fuel tank on the back of it. And I still made way too many stops to refuel. My F diesel (AC 2800)was a real miser on fuel with more than enough power for the machine.

The least of my worries would be the engine. It is an inline 6 cyclinder heavy duty GM motor. I'm not much of a GM man, but this is one hek of a motor! We have a few of them and with regular maintainence you shouldn't have any problem with it. As with any engine though, look it over thouroughly for any leaks or problems and make sure it runs good. Only common problem is exhaust manifold cracking. She does like to drink but it should last a couple of full days of running. let me know what you do or e-mail me with other questions if necessary.

That 292 chevy engine is a good one! The only problem maintenance-wise would be finding parts for the belt-driven govenor if the need ever arose.

Bought an F2 gas for $2000 this fall and already ran 200 acres of beans, few problems. The gas uses about twice the fuel as the diesel but small problem for the price.
