Do you have "helper springs" on lift cylindersIJWithout them oil will over heat.If your ground is fairly level you can get by carrying the cutter bar just lightly rubbing ground to finish this year.

Yes we have helper springs but the springs came off a CII. I am starting to wonder if the CII springs are lighter. Jason

Check with a salvage yard for the oil cooler, hoses and the slide-in panel it is attached to. Gleaner wanted $450 for just the cooler 8 years ago. If your ground is flat enough you can just let the cutter bar flex and only use the header control on uneven ground.

push them up as tight as possible and still let the head tough the ground. I am 'assuming' you mean a floating cutter bar - Hart Carter- head. We enjoy folks running with the hyd temp light on, helps us stay in business. The parts sale start with the conversation " after about 10 minutes of running my header will not lift...." The cooler uses the return flow off the power steering return going to the cooler then to tank. We have added a loop of piper and hose for an approx additional 10' of hose loop before entering the tank which will add a cooling effect. The flow is under no pressure so steel braid is not necessary as long as it is hyd hose. The Flex heads with on head pump and tank use steel lines running from one side to the other for cooling as an example of what I mean.

What I did is add to the bottom of my oil tank about 7" which gives the system more cooling capacity as it has more oil.
