Combines F2 in soybeans

There is supposed to be a stripper plate between the feeder beater and the cylinder. If this is removed the cylinder will throw beans back out, at least it did on mine. I took the plate out because it made plugging worse. About the rasp bars, if you do not already have a set of wide-spaced bars such as sold by Trimpe then put in a set and you will be amazed at the difference.

Older G's and such origionally had a curtain bolted over the beater with little slits cut to let the fingers pass. Don't know as to necessity of these but a curtain will help. Also make sure the fingers are retracting fully at the bottom and not carrying beans upward.

You probably already have your sieve opened to the correct width, but I thought I would mention it. If your sieve is closed too much and your beans are coming back to the cylinder by the return elevator, you will get the same results.

I think you are most generally going to see some beans being thrown out the front. The centrifical force of the front beater being the culprit. I run the front beater in the lowest position. On the question of cylinder bars. I think we are all generally guilty of trying to run them beyond their usefulness. To check for wear, put a straight edge on top and see what you have. I have found that if the leading edge of the bars is at all rounded, either turn them or if you have already done that, replace them. The rounded edges just wedge the crop whereas the sharp leading edge will pull the crop through. If your bars are in really bad shape, you will not believe the difference new bars make.
